BGE Reflections


This past weekend DUCKCHAR was fortunate enough to attend the first annual Chef’s Shoppe Big Green Egg Fest. Like previous Eggfests, we had a blast. Nancy, Scott, and Lisa from Chef’s Shoppe put together an incredible, sold-out, event. Definitely something to put on your calendar if you’re a backyard chef, Egghead, or live in the Edwardsville, Illinois area. Ten teams put their best foot forward and served 200 hungry and excited attendees. The food ranged from pork butt, ribs, wings, BBQ chicken sliders, stuffed mushrooms and of course Smoked DUCKCHAR to name a few. The DUCKCHAR team was talking all things Smoked DUCKCHAR and the Big Green Egg. We walked folks through the Smoked DUCKCHAR preparation process including the brining, seasoning with DUCKCHAR’s Smoke Somethin’ Rub and the cooking set up on the BGE.

A fast and furious summer storm came through in the afternoon but it was no match for the durability of the Big Green Eggs or the crowd’s enthusiasm.  Here is to many more Chef’s Shoppe Eggfests in the future and a huge thanks to the Chef’s Shoppe team for putting on a terrific and extremely well organized event.
